| ![]() Programs for Expectant Families The CMMC Prenatal Education Department offers a variety of programs for the expectant family. For more information and for course dates and times, please call 215-361-4659.
Classes focus on both the physical and emotional aspects of labor and delivery with emphasis on relaxation and breathing techniques. A tour of the Family BirthCenter is included. We recommend taking these classes during the last 8 to 10 weeks of pregnancy. Couples are strongly encouraged to also take the Newborn Care class.
One-Day Childbirth Preparation This one-day class is an alternative for couples unable to attend a complete preparation series.
Refresher Childbirth This one-day course is designed for couples that have attended a full childbirth preparation course with a previous pregnancy.
Newborn Care Important topics such as sleep, crying and safety issues (including car seats) are addressed. This class is strongly recommended for first-time parents.
Breastfeeding Your Baby This two-part series is taught by a certified lactation consultant. Fathers are encouraged to attend. Part I – Provides practical guidelines on the benefits of breastfeeding as well as techniques and positioning. Part II – Addresses techniques for the collection and storage of breast milk. This class is especially valuable for breastfeeding mothers returning to work.
Big Brother/Big Sister This family-oriented class is designed to help prepare your child for the arrival of a new baby. At least one parent must participate in the class.
All About Babies This family-oriented class is designed to prepare siblings ages 4 to 8 for the arrival of a new baby. At least one parent must participate in the class.
