Health Screenings
Provided by the North Penn Visiting Nurse Association

Blood Pressure Screening – FREE
High blood pressure often goes undetected until a health crisis occurs. Unrecognized and untreated, high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack or kidney failure. Once detected, high blood pressure can be controlled with diet, exercise and/or medication. Keep a check on your blood pressure to help reduce your health risks.

Cholesterol Screening
Total Cholesterol (TC) or TC/High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) Ratio

High cholesterol is one of the major modifiable risk factors of heart attack and stroke. This cholesterol screening is accomplished from a finger stick blood specimen and results are ready in five minutes. Information about exercise, reducing dietary fats and lowering cholesterol will be available.

Fee:$8 – Total Cholesterol (TC)
 $15 – TC/HDL and Ratio

Skin Cancer Screening – FREE
Skin cancer is the most common and most curable type of cancer. Recognizing new growths or changes in your skin's appearance can be the key to early detection and successful treatment. Screenings will be provided by dermatologists Allan Mineroff, MD, Marvin Sasson, MD and Michael Stierstorfer, MD. Prevention and treatment information will be available.

Stool Blood Test Kits – FREE
Health problems such as colorectal cancer, ulcers and diverticulitis can cause intermittent, hidden bleeding that can be detected by this screening. Come to our distribution center, allow 15 minutes for instruction and take a Stool Blood Test Kit to complete in the privacy of your home. Return the completed kit for testing. Annual screening is recommended for those over 50 years of age and may be suggested for younger persons with a history of bowel problems. Registration is not required.
